Rancang Bangun dan Analisa Kinerja Sensor MQ-2, MQ-6 dan MQ-9 Terhadap Jarak dan Delay Deteksi Gas Berbahaya Dengan Sistem IoT
Abstract
Hazardous gases such as smoke, LPG, carbon monoxide, and methane pose significant threats to human safety when present in high concentrations. Therefore, an early detection system capable of monitoring environmental conditions in real-time is essential. This study aims to design and analyze the performance of three gas sensors MQ-2, MQ-6, and MQ-9 based on the parameters of distance and detection delay, and integrate them into an Internet of Things (IoT) system using the ESP32 microcontroller. The proposed system is equipped with LED indicators and an active buzzer as an audible warning alarm. Sensor data can be accessed in real-time via a Wi-Fi connection, allowing users to remotely monitor environmental conditions using a smartphone through the Blynk application. Testing was conducted by varying the distance between the gas source and each sensor, as well as measuring the detection delay for each case. The results show that the MQ-2 sensor has the widest detection range, capable of detecting LPG up to a distance of 15 cm with a delay of 6 seconds, whereas MQ-6 and MQ-9 failed to detect gas at that distance. The integration of the IoT system enables responsive monitoring and rapid notifications, thereby enhancing early detection effectiveness against potential hazardous gas leaks in residential environments.
